In her Junior year (1966) Charlene and two classmates were killed in a car accident after the Jr. & Sr. Banquet. There was no prom so the group was on their way to Pikeville when the accident occured.
What a sweetheart of a student!! I was her typing teacher and one of her junior class sponsors.
She and the others involved in the terrible car wreck on May 7, 1966, became special friends because of the junior class play. If there had been a prom, which I tried to get for the kids, they would not have been on the road at 8:30 after the banquet.
